Julia Bernesser (age 10) of Glenshaw won the national swimming championship for her age group (10 & Under) in the 100 Yard Freestyle at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Championships held in St. Petersburg, Florida on April 9-11, 2009. Julia also won the High Point Runner Up trophy for finishing 2^nd in overall points for her age group.

Julia competes for the swim team at Sarah Heinz House Boys & Girls Club’s new Baierl Aquatic Center on the North Side of Pittsburgh. Head Coach Craig Peterson stated, “We are extremely proud of Julia’s accomplishments and her teammates who also achieved lifetime best swim times at this meet. It is a fantastic showing for our 2^nd year competing in this championship.”
