Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on the North Shore
On Saturday, Oct. 16, the American Cancer Society is hosting it’s first-ever Pittsburgh Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5k Walk.
The walk begins at 9 a.m. outside Heinz Field at Art Rooney Avenue and General Robinson Street, and will head down Gen. Robinson to River Avenue and back again. The path is level and participants can take as long as they like to finish, or can opt to not walk the entire route.
“It’s very much wide open,” said Dan Catena, ACS communications director. He said participants can form teams and walk in groups as well.
Registration the day of the event begins at 8 a.m., but you can pre-register by emailing pittsburgh.strides@cancer.org. Registration is free, but participants are encouraged to donate and ask family and friends to “sponsor” their walk. Please bring cash or check donations to the registration. Checks should be made out to the American Cancer Society.
Right now, ACS is funding over $10 million in cancer research projects within the City of Pittsburgh. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer has raised over $400 million nationwide for breast cancer research.
