Allegheny Voices 2 release party
Yesterday, Saturday Light Brigade, in conjunction with Manchester Academic Charter School and the Andy Warhol Museum, released Allegheny Voices 2. You can read about the first one here.
The project, funded by the Charm Bracelet Project’s micro-grant fund, pairs up MACS students with senior citizens who grew up on the Northside for interviews. The students learn how to use recording and sound editing equipment, and design a magazine to go with the CD of interviews they produce.
Unfortunately, the students had not arrived at the release party at Bistro-to-Go when we were there, but we got some good photographs of the senior citizens, who all enjoyed participating in the project. All photos by Kelly Thomas.
Roger Humphries, born in 1944 and interviewed by Kevin Mahdi and Lucas Sanders, sits with SLB Radio’s Director of Education and Outreach Jeff Baron.
Linda Ehrlich and Jane Johnson, both interviwees for Allegheny Voices 2, catch up at the release party.
Joan McGarry of the Warhol, Nikki Heckman of Bistro-to-Go, Sister Mary Damian and SLB Executive Director Larry Berger enjoy Nikki’s delicious soups and salads in the Bistro annex.
