Special yard debris pick up Saturday
If you hate the idea of all those leaves from your yard ending up in a landfill somewhere but just don’t know what to do with them, you can place them in paper bags and let the city pick them up for composting.
This Saturday, Nov. 13, only, the city will pick up bagged leaves, bundled bushes and tree branches and pumpkins.
The following items will only be accepted if properly packaged:
- Bagged leaves: Residents must bag leaves in paper bags only and place them out at your normal refuse collection site. Bags should NOT exceed 35 pounds. Leaves in plastic bags will not be accepted.
- Tree branches and bushes: Cut, bundle and tie branches and bushes in lengths not exceeding five feet in length. Tree branch diameter should not exceed four inches.
- Pumpkins: Placed at normal collection site.
The city offers this service twice a year, once in the spring and once again in the fall. Some Public Works drop-off locations accept yard debris for composting year-round. For more information, check the city website, here.
