Pittsburgh Allegheny students take home gold in dancing competition
Fifth graders from Allegheny K-5 earned a gold medal in the district’s Colors of the Rainbow ballroom dancing competition. Students from Spring Hill K-5 took home a silver, and students from King Elementary took home a bronze medal.
The Colors of the Rainbow program came to the Pittsburgh Public Schools last year and aims to teach students self-confidence and etiquette in a fun atmosphere.
The Dec.11 dancing event was the program’s semi-final competition, and the students from the schools that received gold medals will advance to the finals next semester.
108 students participated, and those were chosen from 400 who learned dances like the Rumba and Foxtrot over 10 weeks of in-school instruction.
Colors of the Rainbow is sponsored by Mercy Behavorial Health.
