Harris will seek re-election to Pittsburgh City Council
Council President Darlene Harris
Darlene Harris announced that she will again seek re-election to Pittsburgh City-Council.
In a Feb. 3 press release, Harris noted her creation of a plan to help save the city’s pension fund from state takeover without raising any taxes.
“Most of all, I am proud of being able to deliver real results for our Northside. I take my job seriously not only to legislate, but also to advocate for our neighborhoods. We have dedicated over $3 Million in funds from the capital budget that will bring upgrades to our Northside neighborhoods.”
Harris was first elected to represent District 1 in a special election in 2006, and was elected to a full-term the following year.
The neighborhoods of Brighton Heights, Deutschtown, Fineview, Brightwood, Northview Heights, Observatory Hill, Perry Hilltop, Spring Garden, East Deutschtown, Spring Hill, Summer Hill, Troy Hill and Washington’s Landing make up City Council District 1.
