Trail update: Construction projects, upcoming races and activities
A portion of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail (Riverfront Trail) along the North Shore that was closed for two months is open again.
A segment of the trail in front of PNC Park, from Mazeroski Way to Federal Street, is now complete and detour signage has been removed, said Tom Baxter of Friends of the Riverfront.
The detour was necessary to repair and replace deteriorated surface concrete on the trail.
Work on another portion of the North Shore trail is expected to begin soon near the 31st Street Bridge. The work includes resurfacing of the rutted sections on either side of the new concrete trail structure that was built to move the trail closer to the Allegheny River as part of the Route 28 expansion process.
