What: Thanksgiving Dinner

On Thanksgiving Day, Light of Life Rescue Mission will offer its traditional holiday banquet plus a range of day-long festivities to any man, woman or child who is homeless or too poor to afford a meal andother necessities.

A strong advocate for Light of Life’s work in the community, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl will kick off the event for the second year in a row by serving meals in the Mission’s main kitchen. He is expected to arrive around noon and spend up to an hour loading plates for hungry guests.

A heated tent will be set up outdoors to house a coat giveaway in addition tocomplementary hot chocolate and cookies. Volunteers will man this community outreach in shifts, helping the poor and homeless find coats and jackets to fit them.

From noon – 6 p.m., Light of Life will serve Thanksgiving meals at the Mission. The menu will includeturkey, gravy, potatoes, green beans, rolls, fruit and assorted pies. Altogether, Light of Life expects to provide over 1,000 meals with the help of approximately 100 volunteers.
