PPS school board member voting districts to be reapportioned
Election boundaries for Pittsburgh Public School board members are being adjusted and voted on by a reapportionment commission as part of a reapportionment process that the district is required to do every 10 years.
The adjusted boundaries do not affect or determine what schools children are assigned to, but only what school board members represent each district.
The Northside is split between Regina Holley, Floyd McCrea and Mark Brentley.
The seven-member reapportionment commission must ensure that the districts are compact and contiguous and that three of the nine districts are predominantly black.
The proposed changes would move voting districts 27-10, 27-11 and 27-13 in Brightwood from McCrea’s district to Brentley’s, and voting district 25-7 in Fineview from Brentley to Holley.
Commission members expect the plan to be finalized by mid-November.
