Light of Life serves Christmas dinner
The Friday before Christmas, Light of Life Rescue Mission served and delivered almost 1,000 meals to neighbors in need.
Meals were delivered to 15 local senior residents at high-rise buildings, and meals were served at the Light of Life building at 10 E. West Avenue.
One hundred volunteers helped out with the meal, and Mayor Luke Ravenstahl served the first of the meals, which included ham, sweet potatoes, mixed vegetables and dessert.
The meal also included an elaborately decorated cake from Dozen Bake Shop in Lawrenceville’s cake decorator Megan Hart, who was a contestant on season 2 of “Next Great Baker.”
In addition to the meals, Light of Life tent set up outside where men, women and children could pick up warm winter coats.
Light of Life Rescue Mission is a Christian nonprofit that provides recovery programs, food and shelter for Pittsburgh poor and homeless.
