Flower planting
When: May 25, 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Where: 3629 California Avenue
Join the Brighton Heights Citizens Federation annual flower planting on May 25. The BHCF will plant 10 flats of tall zinnias, 20 flats of mixed petunias and 20 flats of mixed portulacas for a magical look at the three corners. We will be planting a whole other set of flowers provided by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy down on Route 65 at Brighton Heights Boulevard.
Memorial Day Celebration
When: May 27
Where: Legion Park
Brighton Heights will host its annual ceremony that last about an hour with patriotic songs, the raising of the flag, taps and participation of the boy scouts and the Perry High School Jr. ROTC group. The program is sponsored by Brighton Heights, Brightwood and the American Legion Post. Emmanuel Christian Church on Davis Ave will have a free picnic after the ceremony.
Riverview Park 5K
When: June 7
Where: Riverview Park
Registration for the Riverview Park 5k is now open! Click here to register for this year’s race on in the Northside at 7 p.m. on Friday. The park’s 5k course is a hilly challenge and a bargain for regular 5k runners.The registration fee is $12 up until May 25.
The California Markets Art Walk
When: June 8
Where: California Avenue
The Art Walk will be the first event of the California Markets, a new series of summer festivals in the Northside. There will also be vendors and activities in the California Avenue business district in addition to the great work of local artists.
The Brighton Heights Chocolate House Tour
When: June 9
Where: St. Cyril of Alexandria
Home owners in Brighton Heights will share chocolate and their living on June 9 in the Brighton Heights Ninth Annual Chocolate House Tour.
PNC Park Community Day
When: June 16
Where: PNC Park
Head to the Pirates game with Brighton Heights neighbors on Sunday June 16. The cost of the ticket is strictly the game cost. The BHCF will provide free bus transportation back and forth and a free picnic with prizes at the Riverview High Rise picnic area. The Pirates provide free T-shirts. It’s Father’s Day, so kids and Dads get a free ball cap, too.
