Volunteers fix bikes and fit helmets for Northside kids
Kids on the lower Northside know that the best place to take their broken bikes is to Allegheny Commons on a Thursday night.
Northsider Patrick Roberts leads weekly bike repairs each week from 7-9 p.m., This week, 35 kids who showed up to the East Commons also received bike helmets along with their repairs.
Allegheny General Hospital donated helmets and provided staff support to help fit helmets properly. The Allegheny Health Network’s Mobile STAR center was on site as well.
Thanks Patrick, AGH, ACAC and also to Shane Freeman and everyone at the Unitarian Church for making a donation so that Patrick can continue purchasing parts to gets kids back on bikes!
