This year for Mother’s and Father’s Day, the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh will be collaborating with Saturday Light Brigade Radio Productions to give children’s the chance to create one-of-a-kind audio cards for parents.
The dates will be from April 26 through May 11 for Mother’s Day, and May 31 through June 15 through Father’s day from 1-4 p.m. at the Children’s Museum, 10 Children’s Way.
SLB will be opening its studio to attendees who will then be able to record Audio CD Cards featuring a personal message, poem, song or story along with handcrafted decorations. After the recording, the SLB staff will edit the CD’s on site and children will be able to bring home their CD and card that day.
Larry Berger, Executive Director and Founder of SLB Radio Productions, Inc. and Host of The Saturday Light Brigade radio program, said the goal of contrasting SLB’s broadcast studio at the Children’s Museum was so an array of different children and families could utilize it.
“We are delighted that so many people have made our studios a focal point of their Mother’s Day and Father’s Day tradition,” Berger said.
Over 600 children and their families attended the Audio Card program in 2013, which was SLB’s record turnout. This will be the program’s ninth year holding the Mother’s and Father’s Day audio recordings.
Purchase of a CD Creation Card Kit at SLB is required prior to recording. The cost is $12, which includes a CD, card kit, decorating supplies, studio time, and editing. All proceeds benefit SLB’s programs for children, youth and families. SLB’s studios are located in the lower level of the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.
