On April 25, 2014, Pittsburgh Perry students assembled to clean up the community. Under the supervision of teacher Mr. Charles Linhart and with guidance and technical assistance from Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy staff, enthusiastic students from all grades volunteered to “green” the school grounds and Riverview Park.
Students worked diligently all morning, picking up trash, spreading layers of fresh mulch around plants, and pulling destructive weeds. Split into three groups, students tackled the day’s workload; facing the challenge of tough, rocky soil with determination and positivity.
By the end of the morning, students were able take pride in improving their school’s landscape and the community. You too can get involved! Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is hosting volunteer days throughout the Spring. Click here for more information.
