The executive director of the Western PA Humane Society vowed to shave his head if he raised $10,000 for his charity run in DICK’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon.
David Janusek, the executive director, surpassed his goal and personally raised $40,377, and on Wednesday, May 7 Bubba from 100.7 STAR was there to take on the head-shaving honors.
To add more excitement to the head shaving, there was a “Wheel of Pain,” where onlookers could spin the wheel and have some fun with Janusek’s hair before it was completely gone.
Janusek sported hair styles such as the Bozo, Monk, Skrillex, and a rat tail and comb over combination before having his head completely shaved.
“We are creating trends here,” Bubba joked with the crowd.
Kristin Lane, director of marketing and public relations, said together the Humane Society team raised $95,104 during the marathon.
The Western PA Humane Society was founded in 1874 and is the oldest animal charity in Pittsburgh. It is an open-door shelter, meaning all animals are accepted regardless of age, health, breed or personality. In 2013, the shelter took in more than 14,000 animals. For more information, click here.
