This morning at Penn Brewery, 800 Vinial St., a wall collapsed while workers were in the process of removing an 8 foot long beehive.

Sandy Cindrich, president and CEO of the brewery, said the wall of brick fell around 10:30 a.m. and no one was hurt.

Cindrich said the brewery had planned to take the wall down to remove the beehive before the Microbrewers Fest that will be held at the brewery on Saturday, June 7. It was during the removal of the final layer of the wall when it collapsed.

The beehive had been attached to the building since the brewery moved in five years ago. Cindrich said beekeepers will be coming to the brewery on Friday, May 23 to safety remove the beehive and relocate the bees. After the bees have left the premises, the wall will be restored.
