Accuweather’s website said this Saturday will be “mostly sunny and pleasant,” and with the 18th Annual Microbrewers Fest at Penn Brewery the same day, President and CEO of Penn Brewery Sandy Cindrich can’t think of a better way to enjoy the sunshine.
There are over 25 breweries participating in the festival on June 7, including many local breweries such as Rivertowne Brewing Company, Rooney’s Beer Company and East End Brewing Company.
Cindrich said local breweries attending the 2014 Microbrewers Fest has increased compared to previous years and it has “been great to see the growth of craft beer in this region over the past few years.”
Also, this year the Olde Frothingslosh Club will be in attendance to present an exhibit of Pittsburgh beer memorabilia from decades past, Cindrich said.
Tickets are still available for the event, although Cindrich said 75 percent of the tickets available for each session have been sold. Tickets are $45 per person and the event is restricted to ages 21 and over.
Ticket price includes a commemorative glass and live entertainment from the Flow Band from 1 to 4 p.m., and Joel Lindsey and Blvd. of the Allies Trio from 6 to 9 p.m. Also included with each ticket is a buffet meal that will consist of Sausage Pretzel Baguettes, veggie and chicken wraps, chilled German-style pasta salad, summer fruit medley, and a Pennbrew strawberry pretzel dessert.
Penn Brewery will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Community Alliance of Spring Garden and East Deutschtown.
