NCM event focuses on living a balanced life

Individuals engage in physical self-care every day, but with the demands of daily life, emotional well-being can take a back seat.
On July 12, Northside Common Ministries will be working with the community on spiritual healing, healthy living and why it is important in our daily routine.
From 3 to 6 p.m. a free family friendly event will be held in West Park near the corner of West North Avenue and Resaca Place. Director of NCM Jay Poliziani said yoga and meditation classes will be offered, as well as an overview of healthy eating and living a balanced life. Children friendly activities and crafts will also be offered during this time.
After winding down in the park, individuals are welcome to attend a party from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bicycle Heaven with $10 admission. There will be a DJ, local food trucks, and a small beer garden and additional drinks for children. Poliziani said there are art studios in Bicycle Heaven that will also be open for different activities.
The $10 cover for the party will help NCM cover the expenses for the event, but whatever is leftover will go towards keeping the shelves stocked at the food pantry, Poliziani said.
The Children’s Museum, Mattress Factory, The Andy Warhol Museum and the Western PA Humane Society are some of the organizations working with NCM during the day and evening events.
Poliziani said even though the day is centered on maintaining emotional balances within our daily lives, the event is foremost to connect and “reach out to the neighborhood and community.”
