MATTRESS FACTORY PRESS RELEASE
Five Pittsburgh-based artists have been chosen to present their work in “Artists in Residence,” an exhibition opening Sept.13, 2014 at the Mattress Factory. The show, housed in the museum’s galleries at 500 Sampsonia Way and 1414 Monterey Str., will be on view through Spring 2015 and is presented in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Biennial.
An exhibition opening reception will be held Friday, Sept. 12, from 6-8 pm at the museum. General Admission is $15, and admission is free for Mattress Factory Members, and students with a valid ID from Carnegie Mellon University, Point Park University and the University of Pittsburgh.
Participating in “Artists in Residence” are Danny Bracken, John Peña, Ryder Henry, Kathleen Montgomery and Benjamin Sota. Each artist will create a new room-sized installation that will demonstrate their uniquely different approach to the creative process.
ArtLab programs with exhibition artists will take place the first and third Saturdays of every month and will feature hands-on, interactive activities for all ages. Starting Sept. 20, 2014, the museum will offer drop-in exhibition tours at Noon on the first and third Saturdays of every month with museum admission. “Art + Conversation with John Pena and Danny Bracken,” an event for those ages 21 and over, will take place Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 from 6-9 pm.
