Council Candidate Dave Schuilenburg Voluntarily Withdraws From Democratic Primary
PRESS RELEASE
Independent Democratic candidate for Pittsburgh City Council District 1, Dave Schuilenburg, has suspended his candidacy in this year’s primary.
“Effective immediately, I, Dave Schuilenburg, am suspending my candidacy in this year’s Democratic primary so as to tend to urgent personal family matters. As such, I have instructed my campaign team to wind down operations for the time being,” Schuilenburg said in a statement.
Schuilenburg, who is a father of two, an 11-year 911 Telecommunication Officer for the city, and president of the Summer Hill Citizens Committee, had been actively campaigning on how to move Pittsburgh’s Northside forward.
“It is my hope that with the nomination period closed & court challenges heard, that the remaining candidate(s) will now turn their attention to discussing specific ideas on how they propose to move the Northside forward,” Schuilenburg stated. “Northsiders are fed up of ‘politics as usual’ and being left behind as other areas of the city are seeing success.”
