Prime Stage Theatre officially announced the start of its 2015-16 season, which include three literary classics. All public and student matinee performances will be produced at the New Hazlett Theater in Allegheny Center.

The 2015-16 main stage features adaptations of popular pieces of literary work including:

The Crucible: Oct. 30, 2015 – Nov. 8, 2015
By Arthur Miller; Directed by Scott P. Calhoon
In late mid-century Salem, Massachusetts, accusations of witchcraft are brought forth  against a troubling number of young girls and, eventually, even adult women of the town. Hysteria mounts as Danforth serves as prosecutor, judge, and jury over the
accused. Audiences will be swept up in this passionate story of truth, lies, integrity, and light.

A Lesson Before Dying: Mar. 4, 2016 – Mar. 13, 2016
By Romulus Linney, based on the novel by Ernest J. Gaines and directed by Richard Keitel
Jefferson, an African-American young man is condemned to death in small-town Louisiana for a murder he didn’t commit. His godmother persuades a teacher to visit Jefferson and teach him to die with dignity as a man. Many lessons are learned in this powerful drama on the value of human life.

The Giver: May 16, 2016 – May 22, 2016
By Eric Coble, based on the book by Lois Lowry and directed by Melissa Hill Grande
This world premiere adaptation by Eric Coble of Lois Lowry’s Newbery Award novel stirs your memories as 12 year old Jonas discovers his special gifts and his special purpose with the aid of the Giver in this world of Sameness. But will he be successful?
