Saturday offers two events for the athletic and family-oriented alike with activities starting bright and early in Fineview and continuing later in the afternoon with some fall fun in Brightwood.

Fineview to crown stair master during annual event

What: Fineview Step-a-thon

Where: Catoma Street Overlook

When October 17, 9 a.m.

You can’t live in Northside and not encounter hills, which give way to steps.

The Fineview Step-a-thon has harnessed the agony of stair-climbing and created the step-a-thon; a 2.5 or 5-mile course across the neighborhood’s steps, streets and urban trails.

At the finish participants will be able to take advantage of the picturesque view of the city at the Catoma Street Overlook.

Brightwood Pumpkinfest

What: Brightwood Civic Groups 24th Annual Pumpkinfest

Where: Horace Mann School Field, 2819 Shadeland Ave.

When October 17, 1-4 p.m.

With Halloween less than two weeks away, celebrate the fall season with activities and games the whole family can enjoy. The annual event is free for Brightwood residents, or $5 otherwise.
