New art exhibit to open in Historic Deutschtown
Artists Image Resource in Historic Deutschtown will open its annual national juried print exhibition,“PRINTWORK 2015,” Dec. 11 during an opening reception from 7-9 p.m.
Featuring prints created by 22 artists from around the country, the exhibition features innovative techniques combined with solid conceptual thinking, juried by Dan Byers, Senior Curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston.
“I approached these works as images, and let the images meet me half way between their persuasion and my expectations for them…so hopefully this group of affecting prints, made for many diverging reasons, speaks to the desire images, especially those that are reproducible, elicit within us,” Byers said in a statement. “And since desire is always complicated and often contradictory, hopefully this collection of prints conveys those feelings as well, picturing the frustration and pleasure of consuming and producing the images that create our worlds.”
The exhibition will run until Feb. 5, 2016 and is free to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-10 p.m. or by special appointment (email info@artistimageresource.org to schedule).
