Twenty-five new puppies arrived at Manchester’s Western Pa. Humane Society Jan. 30. The Pittsburgh Aviation Animal Rescue Team (PAART) transported the pups from Mississippi’s Tunica Humane Society in the wake of recent tornadoes, according to a press release.

The transfer to Western Pa. helps alleviate the overpopulation in one of the poorest communities in the country. Once the puppies arrived, they were given necessary vaccinations, microchips as well as spayed and neutered.

“The Western PA Humane Society helps animals in need when they are able, whether they’re in Pittsburgh or across the country,” Joy Braunstein, Executive Director of the Western PA Humane Society, said. “The partnership between PAART, Tunica Humane Society and the Western PA Humane Society has helped bring more than 100 dogs to safety and allowed them to be adopted into loving homes.”
