The Mattress Factory held its annual Urban Garden Party on Friday, June 17, raising a total of nearly $270,000 for the museum.
The theme this year was “Light Up the Night” to celebrate the “Acupuncture” exhibit by German artist Hans Peter Kuhn, which is light sculpture permanently on display on the museums rooftop.
Honorary Chair Mayor Bill Peduto and County Executive Rich Fitzgerald ceremoniously flipped the switch for the installation just after 9 p.m.
On Sunday, June 19 the museum gathered neighbors and friends for the Community Garden Party that had free art projects and performances for all ages.
The funds raised during the Urban Garden Party play an essential role in keeping the museum operational throughout the year, and it is the largest event each year for the organization.
