Learn about involveMINT at Wigle Whiskey, July 14
A new kind of currency is making headway in Pittsburgh and looking to expand its idealistic values into the Northside.
involveMINT, which creates digital currency for volunteers, is holding an event from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 14 at Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse to launch the involveNorthside program.
Daniel Little, founder of involveMINT, said the idea is to “give people the tools to make the community they want to see.”
During this pilot study, involveMINT will partner with a Northside organization and several businesses. Volunteers at the organization will be able to gain digital currency, or “time credits,” for the volunteer hours served and then use that currency at participating local businesses.
Little said at the event there will be a Volunteer Silent Auction where attendees can vote on what organization they’d like involveMINT to partner with.
