Mattress Factory announces 40th Anniversary event series
The Mattress Factory museum has announced MF@40, a series of events that will celebrate the organization’s past, present, and future. Founded in 1977, the organization has featured work by more than 650 artists through its 40 year history.
“A Walk Through the Archives,” the inaugural MF@40 event, will take place Thursday, March 16 from 6-8 p.m. Museum Co-Directors Barbara Luderowski and Michael Olijnyk, along with Archivist Sarah Hallett, have selected archival artworks, documentation, and objects that capture the museum’s evolution since its founding.
Selected pieces are from installations by Juan R. Diago, Ann Hamilton, Damien Hirst, Kim Jones, Greer Lankton, Kiki Smith, and several others. This will be the first time the majority of these remnants have been on display to the public.
General Admission donation tickets for “A Walk Through the Archives” are $15, and are free for Mattress Factory Members. Tickets can be purchased at mattress.org. General Admission donation tickets include two drinks, light appetizers, after-hours access to the museum’s galleries and guided tours of archival materials. Additional drink tickets will be available for purchase at the event.
Details for two additional MF@40 programs will be announced later this year. All proceeds from this event series will help to support the museum’s groundbreaking artist residency program, exhibitions, public programs and educational outreach.
