Now in it’s sixth year, Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, an affiliate of Manchester Bidwell Corporation, presents the MCG Invitational, on view now through May 12. The annual presentation highlights talent, rewards achievement, and encourages hope among Pittsburgh area high-school students. More than one hundred creative and unique works, including paintings, sculptures, and prints, will be on display throughout the entire building, 1815 Metropolitan St.

Admission is free. MCG Hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and is closed on Saturday and Sunday. On May 3, guests may begin arriving at 5:00 PM for the awards ceremony and reception. Street and lot parking is available.

Exhibition Overview

For more than 25 years, the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild has been a champion for youth, art and education in Pittsburgh. Historically, MCG has hosted an annual juried arts exhibition where talented students from Pittsburgh Public Schools competed for accolades and awards exceeding $100,000. The sixth annual MCG Invitational continues this tradition of serving Pittsburgh area high-school students. By providing this opportunity, the MCG Invitational will highlight talent, reward achievement, and encourage hope among those who might otherwise be overlooked. The invited schools include: All Pittsburgh Public Schools, City High Charter School, East Allegheny High School, Imani Christian School, McKeesport Area High School, Neighborhood Academy, Penn Hills High School, Propel School – Andrews St, Propel School – Braddock, Steel Valley Senior High, Urban Pathways Charter School, West Mifflin Area High School, Wilkinsburg High School. The MCG Invitational seeks to recognize excellence and extol achievement demonstrated by youth in urban and economically disadvantaged communities. By heralding these values, this exhibition will reward meritorious students with cash awards, prizes and post-secondary education scholarships.

Program Overview
MCG Youth & Arts’ mission is to educate and inspire urban youth through the arts. In 1968, Pittsburgh was a city racially divided and economically distressed. Bill Strickland established Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild to help combat the economic and social devastation experienced by the residents of his predominantly African-American North Side neighborhood.
