Kick-off Summer Free Day with Allegheny Solar Fest
The Children’s Museum will host a free day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 25 where families and kids can explore the museum’s exhibits including the Hands-On Harley-Davidson, as well as these activities:
- 10:00 am – 3:00 pm: Have a Modern Art Experience with New York based Pop Artist Michael Albert in Buhl Community Park. Autographed posters while supplies last. Learn about Michael at: www.michaelalbert.com
- 10:00 am – 4:30 pm: Explore light and dark with high contrast art making in the Art Studio
- 10:00 am – 4:30 pm: Build with natural materials in MAKESHOP
Parking is available at Gate 6 of Nova Place. Bring your parking receipt to the front desk and redeem it for a $5 parking ticket to exit the Garage.
The 3rd Annual Allegheny SolarFest, a 100% solar-powered event to celebrate the power of the sun and find out how to go solar, will also be held on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Buhl Community Park.
There will be an electric vehicle car show, food trucks, music and information on solar, energy efficiency, solar-powered aquaponics, efficient solar home design, community solar projects and ways to strengthen Pennsylvania’s renewable energy laws.

OpenStreetsPGH is also on Sunday, where families participating in the biking event an end their rides at the Children’s Museum and enjoy the Free Day and SolarFest activities. We have plenty of available bike parking! Learn about traffic routes, road closures, parking options and more.
