We’re putting together a new series called ‘Northside Happenings’ where we’ll be compiling a list of various events happening around the Northside neighborhoods. First up some weekend fun including Vegfest 2017 and the Manchester House Tour.

Friday, August 4

James Street Gastropub

If you’re looking for live music and good vibes James Street has your back. Join them Friday night for live music from Max Leake Music in the speakeasy and Steelesque’s ‘Toro Toro’ album release party featuring HABATAT in the ballroom. Doors open at 6:30. Duestchtown Summer Series

The Duetshtown Summer Series continues with a live performance from Avi Diamond at Arnold’s Tea on East Ohio Street. The show starts at 6 p.m. and admission is free!

VegFest 2017

The third annual VegFest is back at Allegheny Commons Park East this Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voted Best Festival of 2016 by the Pittsburgh City Paper the event boasts over 80 vendors, live music, free goodie bags and the best part – it’s all free.

Mattress Factory

The museum will be hosting its latest ARTLab installment with a patch making class  1 p.m to 4 p.m. Along with the ARTLab show their drop-in tour: Last Look will be held 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. featuring the works of Ursula Burke, Rita Duffy, Locky Morris and more. Both events are free with museum admission.

Stars at Riverview Park Jazz Series & Cinema in the Park

Swing up to Observatory Hill, grab a little fresh air and check out Roger Humphries perform live in conjunction with the Stars at Riverview Park Jazz Series. After the show stay late for the dusk showing of “Arrival” in part of the summer-long Cinema in the Park series. Both events are free of admission.

Manchester House Tour

The annual house tour is back showcasing the beautiful (and often historic) homes scattered throughout the Manchester neighborhood. The tour starts at 11 a.m. and finishes at 5 p.m. Tickets can be bought online for $12.50 or purchased the day of for $15. For more information visit the Manchester Historic Society’s website.
