Northside Happenings October 5 – 8, 2017
This weekend is crammed with culture from new exhibits at the Mattress Factory, album release parties at James Street Gastropub, Craft Beer Fest at Rivers Casino and the first-ever Doors Open on the Northside.
Thursday, October 5
The Art of Wine & Food at the Children’s Museum
The Children’s Museum will play host to a food and wine tasting this Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Over thirty wines will be available for guests to enjoy and food will be provided by over a dozen local restaurants. Guests will have a chance to explore exhibits at the museum after-hours and will have an opportunity to participate in a silent auction. Friday, October 6
Mattress Factory debuts “New Installations: 40th Year”
Join the Mattress Factory for a public reception of the Mattress Factory’s newest exhibit. The exhibit will feature new residences from six former Mattress Factory artists including Yoán Capote, David Ellis, Vanessa German, David Pohl, Meg Webster, Greer Lankton and Allan Wexler. Women Rock Pittsburgh
Dress For Success Pittsburgh will be hosting their annual fundraiser at the Carnegie Science Center. Guests can enjoy live music, entertainment and participate in a chance to win a multitude of raffles ranging from tickets to a penguin encounter at the National Aviary or tickets to a Pittsburgh Penguins’ home game later this month. Dee Dee Bridgewater at the Manchester Craftsman Guild

Walkabout Apple Whiskey Release Party at Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse
Stop in at the Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse in Spring Garden for the release party of Wigle’s Walkabout Apple Whiskey. BBQ will be provided by Black Sheep BBQ food truck and samples of cider and mead will also be on hand. Saturday, October 7
James Drake & CT3 at James Street Gastropub
Zelienople artist James Drake and CT3 will hold a release party for their debut album, “follow these rivers.” The band will be performing from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The show will feature work from Wicked Pittsburgh Art Collective artists and a bus will be running from Zelienople to Deutschtown for guests outside of the immediate area. Game Night at ACAC
Allegheny Center Alliance Church will be hosting a game night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The family-friendly event is free to attend, snacks and refreshments will also be provided. For more information visit the event’s FB page.
Rivers Casino Craft Beer Fest

Community Yoga at Union Fitness

Sunday, October 8
Doors Open Pittsburgh
The annual event will be coming to the Northside for the first time. The self-guided tour features 23 Northside buildings from historic to modern. The event officially begins on Saturday, but a few Northside locations including The Grand Hall, Teutonia Männerchor, and Elks Lodge will only be available for public access on Sunday.
