First annual ‘Trunk-or-Treat’ in Marshall-Shadeland
Café on the Corner’s sister program, Kitchen of Grace will be holding its first annual “Truck or Treat” Tuesday, October 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“I think it is important and we’re expecting this to be a continuous thing,” said Kitchen of Grace creator, Latresa Blackwell. “Living in the community, my efforts to keep our children safe is my first priority.”
The event will be held at the corner of Woodland and Shadeland Avenues, where two blocks of Shadeland Ave. will be closed to thru traffic. Instead, the roadway will be home to a series of vehicles – trunks open wide and filled with various candy and sweets. Live music, face painting and a number of Halloween-themed games will be played.
According to Blackwell the goal of the event is to ensure a safe Halloween for neighborhood children. To her the streets are “not as safe as they used to be” and this offers plenty of Trick-or-treaters a viable and safer alternative than going door-to-door.
Blackwell is hoping the event becomes a fixture in the neighborhood for years to come.
