Burgers ‘n Beers at Pear & the Pickle

The first Thursday of every month Pear & the Pickle will be teaming up with Roundabout Brewery to bring guests a slew of specialty burgers (including veggie burgers) and brews. The kick-off Burgers ‘n Beers event starts at 5 p.m., for more information visit the event’s FB page.

Sembène Film Festival at Alphabet City

The Sembène Film Festival continues with a screening of “The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till” at Alphabet City. The documentary chronicles the story of Emmett Louis Till whose unruly death in Money, Mississippi helped spark the American Civil Rights Movement. The showing is part of the 2017 Sembène Film and Art Festival which highlights African Diaspora through various films, book readings and art installations. Gypsy Stringz at Huszars

Karaoke for Kids at Scratch Food & Beverage

Enjoy some karaoke for a good cause with Scratch Food & Beverage’s Karaoke for Kids benefit. Scratch F&B will be holding their weekly karaoke session with suggested $5 donations towards the Caring for Kids campaign in association with the Children’s Hospital. ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ at New Hazlett Theater

The New Hazlett Theater will be hosting a weekend performance of the WWI-based novel, “All Quiet on the Western Front” at 8 p.m. Two additional performances will be held Saturday night at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m., respectively. Molly Alphabet at The Park House

Country singer and songwriter, Molly Alphabet will be performing at The Park House at 9 p.m. Alphabet’s 5-piece band recently released their EP “Traces” this past May. There’s no cover for the event and plenty of free peanuts and popcorn will be on hand for guests.

Wings and Wildlife Art Show at the National Aviary

The Wings and Wildlife Art Show at the National Aviary opens to the public and will run through Saturday to Sunday, November 5. The show will feature the work of seven artists from five different states with a centralized theme around birds and nature. The public show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., both Saturday, and Sunday. The featured artists include painters Laura Palermo, Sarah Cohen, and JP Dipoll along with photographer Melissa Benzinger McGlynn, sculptors Daniel Brown and Ashley Cecil and glass and jewelry artist, Jenny Pope. Hollow Oak Land Trust Trail Volunteer Day

Hollow Oak Land Trust and Brighton Heights Citizen Federation have helped add three new trails connecting Brighton Heights and Riverview Parks and will be hosting a ‘Trail Volunteer Day’ from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Brighton Heights Park.  Event organizers are planning to clear brush from the new trails helping improve visibility, drainage and trail sustainability.  For more information on the volunteer day, visit the event’s FB page.

Comedy Night at Atria’s

Atria’s at PNC Park is hosting the “World Run Amok” comedy talk show at 7 p.m. The event will feature satiric political commentary from Bethany Hallam, Dr. Cyril Wecht and former PA House Minority Whip, Mike Veon. Pierogie Fest at St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church

Who doesn’t love fresh pierogies? From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. St. George Church will be hosting their annual Pierogie Fest offering Yinzers up seven kinds of delicious potato pastries including potato and cheese, sauerkraut, half and half (half potato/cheese and half kraut), loaded potato, jalapeno, farmer’s cheese and lekvar (prune plum) pierogies. Fire Cider Making at The Farmer’s Daughter

The Farmer’s Daughter in Deutschtown will be hosting a Fire Cider Making Session at 1 p.m. The instructive session will teach guests about the history of the herbal remedy and how to prepare and properly store the seasonal elixir.
