Everyone’s favorite speedy delivery man made a special visit to the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh last Thursday, November 9. Mr. McFeeley (played by actor David Newell) greeted over a hundred children from Pittsburgh Public Schools’, Bullskin Elementary School and the museum’s Pre-K and Head Start program officially launching the 18th annual Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive.
The drive will run from Nov. 9 thru Dec. 17. Donations will help provide impoverished families and children throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania with warmer clothing for the winter months. Since 2000, the fundraiser has helped collect over 35,000 sweaters for families in need.
After the collection period donations will be distrusted by a number of participating nonprofits including the Homeless Children’s Education Fund and Veteran Leadership Program of Western PA.
Sweaters of all shape and sizes are accepted. Donors can make drop-offs directly in the Children’s Museum lobby or call the donations hotline at 412-322-5058 ext. 363.
