Cycling apparel manufacturer, Aero Tech Designs finds a new home in Chateau
When Aero Tech Designs started out in 2005, they did so with humble intentions – make quality products at affordable prices. Now over a decade later Aero Tech Designs has outgrown their Coraopolis roots and found a home in Chateau.
“Our main goal is to provide comfort on the bicycle for all of our customers to help them ride longer and stronger, said the director of operations Ted Rogers.
Rogers is the son of Aero Tech Designs founder, Cathy Schnaubelt Rogers who originally started the clothing manufacturing business in the early 90s because larger companies at that period of time were not offering cycling apparel for women.
Since 2005, Aero Tech Designs has made a name for itself, becoming a staple in the cycling world. However, outside the biking community, Aero Tech Designs is not a household name, largely in part to a dedication towards online sales.
And while Ted Rogers admits a large portion of the company’s sales is still through online transactions their new storefront in Chateau has been drawing in more and more business since their October
opening.
According to Rogers the growth in Pittsburgh’s biking community has helped spurn the store’s “fantastic welcoming” and is a large reason for their sustained success as a company.
“[In the] last 15 years the cycling culture has changed dramatically,” said Rogers. “It is way more acceptable now to ride your bike on the streets then it was 15 years ago.”
