The first weekend in February is a festive one, with swing dancing at the Elks, the Northside Mardi Gras kickoff, late-night entertainment at Scratch plus special big-screen viewings of the classic comedy, “Groundhog Day” at the Carnegie Science Center.

Thursday, February 1
Pre-Groundhog Day Dance at the Elks Lodge
The Jazz Conspiracy Big Band is back for another night of dancing and music. Dance lessons start at 7:15 p.m., the fun kicks off at 8 p.m. A $10 cover does apply, for more information visit the event’s FB page.
Northside Mardi Gras Kickoff at The Priory
Northside Mardi Gras kicks off tonight at The Priory’s Grand Hall at 6 p.m. The cover is $20 with all proceeds benefiting WORK organization which aims to battle poverty and help build sustainability in Haiti. The Northside Mardi Gras is a two-week celebration, for more information visit the event’s page.
Mardi Gras Kickoff and Board Game Night at Threadbare
Threadbare Cider and Mead will be hosting a special Mardi Gras kickoff along with the launch of their weekly Board Game Night. In part of the Mardi Gras celebration guests will be able to enjoy half off sazeracs, muffaletta pizza, king cakes along with live musical performances from AE Honick and Jordan McLaughlin. In addition, guests will also be able to partake in a number of tabletop games during Board Game Night, a new reoccurring Thursday night event at Threadbare. Totally 80s at Rivers Casino

Virtual Reality Gaming at Woods Run Carnegie Library

Karaoke & Late Night Menu at Scratch F&B
Scratch F&B in Troy Hill will be hosting karaoke with Somatic Media and DJ Travis from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. They’ll also be debuting their new late night menu (see below) in part of a new late-night entertainment and food series. For more information visit Scratch’s FB page.

Imbibe Northside
Craft beer and art come together for the third annual Imbibe Northside co-hosted by the Mattress Factory and War Streets Brewery. Guests will be able to enjoy the museum’s exhibits along with drinks from 8 local breweries and distilleries including Allegheny City Brewing, Penn Brewery, Southern Tier Brewing Co., Spring Hill Brewing, Threadbare Cider and Mead and Wigle Whiskey.
