African American Heritage Day Parade
Save the date for this year’s African American Heritage Day Parade starting at 11 a.m. Parade meets in the Quik-It Chicken parking lot on Pennsylvania Avenue and ends at Manchester Field. Ceinwen King-Smith at City of Asylum
Join Ceinwen King-Smith for an evening of family-friendly storytelling at City of Asylum. King-Smith is blind and retired from teaching English and Russian internationally two years ago. Allegheny Commons Community Garden Meet & Greet
Meet in the courtyard next to the Priory Hotel Grand Hall and mingle with organizers of a proposed new community garden where the tennis courts are at the base of Allegheny Commons Park. Submarine Tour at the Carnegie Science Center
Explore the USS Requin Submarine with a tour starting at 9 a.m. Go behind the scenes and see the conning tower and periscope! Cost is $15 for members; $20 for non-members. To register, call 412.237.3400 and press “7.” Guests must be at least 15 years old. Capacity is limited to 12 people. Full mobility is required for the tour.
