This weekend, enjoy a virtual tour of the night sky with SkyWatch at the Buhl Planetarium, the day-long veteran services fair called Stand Down Pittsburgh and get access to neighborhood homes and chocolate treats at the Brighton Heights Chocolate House Tour.

Donation Yoga at Get Hip Records

Fall Spice Cider Release and Cat Cafe at Threadbare Cider House

Oktoberfest at Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse & Whiskey Garden
Kick off the release of Wigle’s O’Zapst at 5 p.m. at the Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse & Whiskey Garden. Made from distilling Penn Brewery’s Oktoberfest Munich-style lager, O’Zapst has notes of German malt, beer, honey, Graham cracker and cherry. SkyWatch at the Buhl Planetarium
Meet on the first floor of Carnegie Science Center. A guide will lead guests to the second-floor Buhl Planetarium for a virtual tour of the night sky. Then if skies are clear, guests can check out the observatory. Starting time options are either 8 or 10 p.m. Event happens rain or shine. Second Annual Pittsburgh Garbage Olympics
A friendly clean-up competition between Pittsburgh neighborhoods. Prizes awarded for most trash collected and weirdest found item. More information available via Facebook.
Stories of Home: A Photo Exhibition by Maranie Staab at Mattress Factory
A photo exhibit examining the question: “What does home mean to you?” Event is a fundraiser for NeighborWorks Western Pennsylvania, an organization offering classroom-based education and one-on-one counseling to guide buyers through all stages of the homebuying process. Stand Down Pittsburgh 2018
The Veterans Leadership Program hosts this day-long veteran services fair, which includes free breakfast and lunch. Attendants will have access to 60 health and community service providers. Event lasts from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check out the Facebook event page for more information.
Two Scientists Walk into a Bar
Ask scientists your burning science questions at bars throughout Pittsburgh. In the Northside at Threadbare Cider and Mead, scientists Carla Littleton and Jessica Reitz will cover Conservation Biology and Archaeology from 5 to 7 p.m. and scientists Kristi Allen and Cliff Bossong will cover Automotive Paint and Biology from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. At Spring Hill Brewing, Patrick Cooper will cover Particle Physics from 7 to 9 p.m., and at the Rivers Casino Levels Bar, scientists Jackson Sando and Natalie McGuier will cover Photochromics and Biology from 6 to 8 p.m. For the full lineup and more information, check out the Carnegie Science Center website or the Facebook event page.
