museumlab™ will reopen the former library building, which has been vacant for the past 10 years, in April 2019. The new space will feature MakeLab, a wood and metalworking makerspace, TechLab, for digital making experiences created with staff and students affiliated with Carnegie Mellon University and StudioLab, where children will co-create work with artists-in-residence. The Children’s Museum anticipates more than 30,000 visitors to museumlab™ in its first year.
The Children’s Museum has a fundraising goal of $18.5 million for the project. So far, it has raised $16.6 million.
