Fall is here! Celebrate the season this weekend with a walk through Allegheny Commons with Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy staff, the 27th Annual Pumpkinfest and a Spooktacular pet photo shoot at Wagsburgh.

Big Macs & Beers at the Northside McDonald’s

Allegheny Commons Project Walk
Stroll through Allegheny Commons with Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy staff and learn about planned improvement projects. Walk starts with hot cider and doughnuts at the entrance to the Northeast Fountain Project site, at the intersection of Sandusky Street and North Avenue at 5 p.m. This event is free. Paper Making: Handmade Holiday Cards and Gifts at the Lynn Williams Apartments
This program, presented by Carnegie Library – Woods Run is for adults aged 55 and up. Learn how to handmake decorative paper to create unique holiday greeting cards. Class takes place from 10 a.m. to noon. For more information, visit the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh website.
Sound Series: Essex Green with special guest The Garment District at The Warhol
Co-presented with WYEP, indie rock band Essex Green returns from a 12-year hiatus with a tour supporting their latest release, Hardly Electronic, on Merge Records. Pink Party for Hair Peace Charities at Federal Galley
“Drink for pink!” For every Rhinegeist, Yard’s and Brooklyn beer sold from 6 to 9 p.m., $3 will be donated to Hair Peace Charities, a local organization helping women with breast cancer in Pittsburgh purchase wigs. More information available on the Facebook event page.
Dubravka Ugresic at City of Asylum
Dubravka Ugresic, winner of the 2016 Neustadt International Prize for Literature, reads from her new book, American Fictionary. Her book offers a look at American culture and Western consumerism through the eyes of a woman whose country is being destroyed by war. 27th Annual Northside Pumpkinfest
Decorate a pumpkin, visit the petting zoo, watch a puppet show and more at the 27th Annual Northside Pumpkinfest in Allegheny Commons East Park. Rain date is Sunday, October 14. Registration begins at noon. Event lasts from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, check out the Facebook event page.
Animal Friends’ Free Vaccine Clinic

Follow These Rivers Music Festival 2018
Enjoy this one-day music and art festival at Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse & Whiskey Garden dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the ongoing environmental crises that our oceans and waterways face today. The festival’s mission is to educate through art and music that our local actions can “follow the rivers” to contribute to global impacts and initiatives. General admission tickets are $25. Spooktacular Halloween Costume Photos at Wagsburgh
Dress your pet in their best Halloween costume and have their picture taken with Wags, the Wagsburgh mascot. Pet photos will be shared on Instagram for an online costume contest. Photos are by donation to benefit Pet Match Rescue – Pittsburgh. For prize details and more information, click here.
Rube Fest at The Children’s Museum
Attend this two-day festival which starts on Saturday, October 13, to celebrate the opening of a new exhibit at The Children’s Museum called Rube Goldberg™: The World of Hilarious Invention! Special guests include the heirs of Rube Goldberg, including Rube’s granddaughter Jennifer George; Ed Steckley, artist and illustrator of the newest Rube children’s books; and performers slowdanger with Ru Emmons and David Bernabo, Attack Theatre, O’Ryan the O’Mazing, Missy Moreno and Anna Azizzy.
