The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh kicked off its 19th annual sweater donation drive on World Kindness Day, Tuesday, Nov. 13, with a visit from Mr. McFeely of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood fame.
Students from Pittsburgh Public Schools’ Children’s Museum Pre-K Head Start program co-piloted the effort, making this year’s Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive one to be remembered.
The Children’s Museum has collected more than 39,750 sweaters for families in need since its first drive, in the year 2000.
If you’d like to help, drop off new or gently used sweaters of any size in the museum’s lobby from now until Monday, Dec. 17. Other drop-off locations include One Oxford Centre, 301 Grant St., 15219, in the main building lobby on the first floor, from Monday through Saturday through Saturday, Dec. 15, and Holiday KidsPlay, in the Heinz Hall Courtyard at the intersection of Liberty Avenue and Sixth Street, only on weekends.
All sweaters collected will be distributed by the Presbyterian Churches of the Tri-State Area, Homeless Children’s Education Fund, Veterans Leadership Program of Western PA and other Children’s Museum partners to nonprofit agencies in the region working with families and children.
