Police to conduct live-fire tests in Northside neighborhoods
A ShotSpotter system testing will happen tomorrow evening in two Northside neighborhoods, Marshall-Shadeland and Observatory Hill.
According to a press release from the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, “ShotSpotter is one of several cutting-edge technologies the City of Pittsburgh is employing to ensure the safety and security of our residents, visitors and surrounding communities.”
Police will begin testing on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 7:30pm in controlled test areas. Bullets will be shot at close range into bullet traps and there will be “no danger to the public”.
The service will not be operational until a successful live-fire test is completed and the network system is verified.
