The fifth annual Northside Mardi Gras will run from Thursday, Feb. 21 to Tuesday, March 5. In addition to lively entertainment and retail specials, neighborhood restaurants will offer New Orleans-inspired menu items to celebrate.

Starting this week, Pittsburgh’s Northside will celebrate the city’s only neighborhood-wide Mardi Gras celebration starting on Thursday, Feb. 21.

“Like New Orleans, Northsiders revel in live music, great food and good people,” said Cody Walters, Main Street Director for the Northside Leadership Conference. “…We’re inviting everyone in the region and beyond to join us to celebrate Mardi Gras.”

The celebration’s finale will take place on Tuesday, March 5, at the Official 2019 Northside Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday Party at the Allegheny Elks Lodge #339 when Etta Cox, last year’s Mardi Gras Queen, will pass her crown to Roger Humphries, this year’s Mardi Gras King. According to Jesse Descutner, Main Street Assistant for the Northside Leadership Conference, Mardi Gras kings and queens are “Northsiders who exude the eclectic and eccentric nature of the Northside.”

Bear Dog Bicycles will lead a bar/brewery tour through the Northside which will conclude at Allegheny City Brewing. Decorate your bikes for Mardi Gras and the winner will receive a free tune-up courtesy of Bear Dog Bicycles! Riders will meet at Bear Dog Bicycles at 11 a.m. and will depart around 11:30 a.m. The duration of the ride will be between 1 – 2 hours.
