Mr. Airplane Man and The Garment District at Get Hip
Get Hip Recordings and Beast Records are teaming up to present a night of blistering garage and mind-melting psych rock, featuring legendary two-woman garage duo Mr. Airplane Man! The Boston duo will be joined by The Garment District (f/ Jennifer Baron of Merge Records‘ The Ladybug Transistor) and Pittsburgh psych rockers Astrology Now. Admission to this all ages event is $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Presale tickets are available now on Eventbrite. In Memory Of… Remembrance and Dedication at Alphabet City
Join musicians of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for In Memory Of… Remembrance and Dedication, a program celebrating life, death, memory, family and friends. In Memory Of… Remembrance and Dedication is an exploration of Sr. Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations and Leonard Slatkin’s Kinah, musical pieces that were composed in dedication to their family and friends respectively. Writers Brittany Hailer and S. Brook Corfman will read from works reflective of the program’s theme. This program will feature a post-concert screening of The Art of Fugue: A Polyphonic Instrumental Video Featuring Five Women Working in Trades by Emilie Crewe. This free, Mario-inspired event is open to the community and includes a live show, interactive games and an egg hunt designed for kindergarten up to 5th grade. Light of Life Rescue Mission Open House
See the space used to share the staff’s lives with others and meet people who have been impacted by their programs. Tours start every 15 minutes between the hours of 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. You will have an opportunity to take a tour of the Mission and Women & Children’s programming space with the tours led by clients or graduates. You will also see the development and administration space as well as get a tour of the donation storage center on Ridge Avenue. If you plan to take a tour of all three buildings, please allow an hour and a half in your schedule. If you cannot stay the full amount of time, tours can be accommodated for the building you would most like to see. A new tour is scheduled to begin every 15 minutes. Humane Animal Rescue’s North Vaccine Clinic
Free microchipping and vaccinations is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to residents who live in Northview Heights, Beltzhoover, Sheradan, and McKees Rocks. Patrons must provide proof that they live in one of the following ZIP codes to receive free services: 15212, 15214, 15210, 15204, or 15136. This limited service is offered thanks to a generous gift from one of their donors. Regular clinic services will also be available at regular prices for those who do not live in the listed ZIP codes.
