Museum Lab opened to the public on Saturday, April 27 with new, interactive exhibits and music, dancing, slacklining, and juggling.
Museum Lab is a creation of Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. It’s located in the building that housed the former Carnegie Free Library of Allegheny, and has been in the works for over two years. The space is made up of three exhibits: Studio Lab, Make Lab, and Tech Lab, which are designed for children 10 years and older to explore hands-on artwork and creative pursuits like woodworking, metalworking, fiber arts, and audio storytelling.
Starting in the fall of 2019, Manchester Academic Charter School (MACS) will relocate its middle school from the Sarah Heinz House to the second floor of Museum Lab.
Museum Lab is open Monday through Friday from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through June 15. In the summer, hours will be Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.museumlab.org.
