Eating Disorder Support Group at Spring Hill Brewing

You don’t have to be going through something major to join the group. Maybe you just want to befriend some strong courageous humans who are looking for more out of life! That’s great too. This group is welcome to anyone looking to make new friends, share their story, and build each other up! Essentially, if you have been struggling with feeling like you are not enough, feeling alone in what you are going through and you are ready to start living a more honest authentic life then this is the group for you. Pittsburgh Winery Alfresco Wine Party in the Priory’s Courtyard

You’re invited to a great summer wine party with host Tim Gaber of the Pittsburgh Winery! “Drink local but source worldwide” is Tim’s motto. He will be showing some new wines, made here in Pittsburgh with grapes sourced from California and South America. Lecture at Allegheny Observatory

Why and How to Go Beyond the Discovery of the Higgs Boson, a Lecture by John Alison, Department of Physics, Carnegie Mellon University. This event is part of the 2019 Public Lecture Series offered at Allegheny Observatory every third Friday of the month. The night starts at 7 p.m. with light refreshments. Lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. and lasts approximately one hour. After the lecture, there will be a tour of the building. Allegheny Observatory is located at 159 Riverview Ave. in Riverview Park. Wild Human documentary screening, Day 1 of 2

The premiere of David Bernabo’s new free-wheelin’ documentary will screen at the Mattress Factory on Friday, July 19. (A second screening will occur the following night at the Carnegie Museum of Art as part of their Moon Party event.) Doors 6:30PM. Screening 7PM. Suggested Donation accepted at the door. The Bar Crawl is going vertical! There will be beer, whiskey, cider and cocktails for you in Spring Garden and Troy Hill. Start at Threadbare Cider House, climb city steps to Spring Hill Brewery and Penn Brewery. Then finish up at the Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse & Whiskey Garden. Gimme a Brake (Light): Free Repair Clinic

The Pittsburgh chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America will hold a free brake light repair clinic on the North Side for anyone in need of a new brake or tail light bulb on their vehicle. A burned out brake light is one of the most common reasons for a traffic stop, increasing the likelihood of police interaction. Funded by the Pittsburgh DSA chapter, “Gimme A Brake (Light)” will be conducted by members of the organization who will be on hand all afternoon to welcome anyone in need of a new brake or tail light. Pittsburghers interested in reserving an appointment for a specific time may send an email with their car’s make/model to abolition@pghdsa.org, but no appointments are needed; drivers may pull in day-of for the service. Free Showing of “First Man” in Riverview Park

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of man walking on the moon, Dollar Bank Cinema in the Park will show “First Man” (PG-13) on Saturday, July 20, at dusk on Observatory Hill in Riverview Park. “First Man” starring Ryan Gosling takes a look at the life of the astronaut, Neil Armstrong, and the legendary space mission that led him to become the first man to walk on the Moon on July 20, 1969. So grab a lawn chair or blanket and head out for an unforgettable evening of cinema under the stars when the City of Pittsburgh Office of Special Events presents “Dollar Bank Cinema in the Park” on July 20 in the shadow of the Allegheny Observatory in the North Side. Casual Northside Brewery Bike Ride with Very Local

BIKE FRIENDS! Join Very Local PGH’s (casual) group ride through the Northside breweries. The theme is “Christmas in July.” It’s a festive, themed brewery bike tour of the Northside led by Bear Dog Bicycles. This social, low-key ride covers a short distance and includes trail ride time, some use of protected bike lanes and some street riding. Get in the spirit by decking out your bike in holiday decorations. Lights, ornaments, garland, wreaths, Santa hats and ugly sweaters are all encouraged. We don’t discriminate; Hanukkah decorations are encouraged, too. Best bike (both Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice) wins a gift package that includes a bike tune-up. #BearDogBikes will lead bicyclists to FIVE stops featuring food & local beer. Aquatic Jamboree at The Pittsburgh Project

Bring your group, friends and family to a casual, summertime, fun, social event at the pool with Coach Mark at 2 pm on the weekends. Get some fitness, swim tips, and play well with others in a non-contact, competitive, aquatic disk game. Events are slated for 2 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, weather permitting, on the Northisde at the outdoor pool of The Pittsburgh Project, located at the corner of North Charles Street & Wilson Ave., at Fowler Park.
