The 2019 Historic Deutschtown House Tour, a self-guided walking tour, began at 11 a.m. and ended at 4 p.m. The event was organized by the residents and merchants in the neighborhood and the 2019 Historic Deutschtown House Tour Committee board of directors. The tour was designed to last approximately two to three hours and homeowners and volunteers were in each home to answer questions.
Historic Deutschtown, the eastern expansion of the former Allegheny City, was developed between 1850 and 1920. It was first intended for farming, but was later subdivided into residential lots.
This year’s tour featured homes that were built as early as the 1830s and were renovated in the 2000s, while other homes were from the ground up as recently as 2019. The event is held every two to three years and will be held again in 2021 at the earliest.
