Garden Theater Block Community Meeting
TREK Development Group and Q Development will provide an update on the proposed development of the Garden Theater Block, located at North Avenue and Federal Street. Light refreshments will be available. Event is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The Facebook event is here.
Being Kind in the Neighborhood: An Evening of Conversation about the Legacy of Fred Rogers
Guests at this event, held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at MuseumLab, include former colleagues of Fred Rogers and community kindness leaders, including: Gisele Fetterman, Melissa Hiller, David Newell, Roberta Schomburg, PhD, Will Tolliver, Sandra Villaroel, and Margy Whitmer. Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive Kick-off
“Since 2000, the Children’s Museum has collected more than 41,000 sweaters to share with families in need throughout our southwestern Pennsylvania neighborhood. The public can drop off new or gently used sweaters of all sizes in the Museum’s lobby from November 7 through December 16, 2019. 2019 Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive partner organizations include Presbyterian Churches of the Tri-State Area, Homeless Children’s Education Fund, Veterans Leadership Program of Western PA and other Children’s Museum partners to nonprofit agencies that work with families and children in the region. Between December 18 and December 23, all donated sweaters collected will be distributed. World Music & Food Festival at MCG Jazz
This once-in-a-lifetime, three-hour event will feature four acts from around the world. With music by Cuban pianist Harold López-Nussa, French hurdy-gurdy extraordinaire Guilhem Desq, Ethiopian jazz ensemble Feedel Band, and Venezuelan duo Betsayda Machado and Jorge Glem. Now in its 14th season, the PGH Vintage Mixer returns to the North Shore for its biggest vintage fair yet, with over 60 vendors! The Mixer’s curated, authentic vintage fair gathers the best local and regional sellers of genuine vintage fashion, home goods, décor, vintage vinyl, toys, games, and more! The Grinch Returns to Wagsburgh
On November 10th & 17th from 11:00am to 3:00pm, bring your pets and kids by to have a picture taken with the Grinch. It’s a FREE event, but donations will help the folks at Senior Pet and Animal Rescue. Wagsburgh is located at 632 E Ohio St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. See you then!
Jazz at Emmanuel
“Jazz at Emmanuel — where the spirited and the spiritual join together in a new kind of celebration!” Jazz Vespers incorporates a series of finger-snapping jazz meditations and stirring poetic or interpretive readings that celebrate everyone as beloved human beings before a benevolent and wondrous creator. A scriptural message and passing of the peace round out the celebration of the theme of the day. This not-to-be-missed, unique worship experience is one everyone will want to see and hear for themselves. Directed by Dr. James Johnson Jr. of the Afro-American Music Institute on piano, the Jazz ensemble includes guest bassists, Lou Schreiber on reeds, James Johnson III on drums, and Pamela Johnson on vocals, as well as occasional guest musicians.
