The Northside Chronicle would like to thank Councilwoman Darlene Harris for her service to the Northside community and her contributions to our newspaper over the last 13 years.
Harris was sworn into office as the City Council representative for District 1 on Nov. 28, 2006. In the Feb. 2007 issue of The Northside Chronicle, she wrote her first column for the paper entitled “First priority: Working with neighborhoods.”
“I pledge to represent you with the utmost vigilance, responsibility, diligence and accountability as we work together to make Pittsburgh a better place to live,” she wrote. Harris then went on to list her priorities for the community: public safety, neighborhood revitalization, and efficient city services. Throughout her tenure, she urged Northside residents to be
involved in their communities and local government.
“…I invite and encourage you to become an active part of the government process. After all, your concerns are my concerns, and your problems are my problems. It is through continuous communication that there are no limits to what we can accomplish when we work together.”
Thank you again, Councilwoman Harris, for your dedication to the Northside, and best wishes for the future.
