August poll results detailed
By Sean P. Ray | Managing Editor
The last full month of summer is over and we’re quickly approaching autumn. But while the end of the season might be sad for some, it also means it’s time for another round of Northside Chronicle poll results.
We started off the latest round of polls by asking what everyone’s favorite feature The Chronicle has added in the past year has been. Clearly everyone had a hard time choosing just one, because this poll got only a single vote! Specifically, the vote was cast for our article previews.
Our next poll asked if any of our readers took part in the “Barbenheimer” sensation which had been sweeping the nation this summer. This was a close contest, but the lead answer was sadly “No, and I’m not interested” with 30% of the vote. There was a three-way tie at 20% each for “I’ve only seen Barbie,” “I’ve only seen Oppenheimer” and “No, but I plan to watch one or both.” No one voted that they had seen both movies.
August always means the start of back to school, so we asked whether you’ve started preparing for the return to classrooms, tests and homework. This poll resulted in a tie with 50% of the vote each between the studious readers — who answered “Yep, already getting school supplies” — and those who aren’t as enthusiastic about school — who answered “Can’t we have one more month of summer break?”
There are many parks on the Northside, but which is your favorite? That was our next poll question, and it led to a close competition between Riverview Park and Allegheny Commons, who both ended up with 45% of the vote. The “Other” category received the remaining 10% of the vote.
We closed things out with our most popular poll of the month, and one about an issue I think many of us have dealt with. We asked how many spotted lanternflies you’ve squished this summer. The lead vote getters were “1-20” and “I’ve lost count!” both tied at 31% of the vote. Next up was “41-60” at 15% of the vote, with a three-way tie for “21-40,” “81-100” and “More than 100” getting 7% of the vote each. Happily, no one voted that they had squished none of the invasive insects.
That brings an end to this round of poll results. Check thenorthsidechronicle.com every Sunday for new polls.
